The Reverend Dr. John J. Cox is a pastor, teacher, and community leader with a passion for helping people encounter the transforming love of Jesus Christ. He is the Founding Pastor of The Vine Fellowship Church, a growing faith community committed to being a place to heal, a place to grow, and a place to belong.
Through The Vine, he is cultivating a Christ-centered community where people can deepen their faith, discover purpose, and build authentic relationships.
A dedicated scholar and preacher, Dr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from Morehouse College, a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University School of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry from Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. His ministry and research focus on helping people connect faith to everyday life and experience transformation through God’s grace.
Dr. Cox is married to Lakisha Cox, and together they are the proud parents of two daughters, Zaquria and Ka’rah.

Through mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement, she empowers women to heal, grow, and lead boldly in every area of life.
Holding a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Human Behavioral Science, Lakisha is a Human Data Scientist, entrepreneur, and ministry leader committed to strengthening communities and developing transformational leaders. She is the Founder of Remarkable Women’s Ministry, a movement dedicated to revolutionizing the way women see themselves, the way God sees them, and the way they lead and live. She is also the Founder and CEO of The Human Strategy Collective, where she helps organizations develop human-centered strategies that create meaningful and sustainable impact.
Lakisha finds joy in being the wife of Pastor John Cox and the proud mother of Zaquria and Ka’rah. Her life’s work is centered on helping people heal, lead authentically, and build legacies that transform generations.
